In my work I explore relationships and the emotions that stem from them: the similarities and differences, the comparisons and assumptions, the ties that bind us together and the issues that drive us apart.
With this piece, Her Name Was Betty, I was inspired by my mom’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. Though our experiences were from a different perspective, it was a struggle we shared together. I feel very grateful to have made this piece before my mom died. Although I never showed it to her, the process from conception to completion helped me deal with my grief. This piece is my tribute to my mom.
If you find yourself in the St. Pete, Florida area you can see this work in person at Florida CraftArt from now until June 1st.
